Copyright Terry Porter 2008,2009 Terrys email address

Note April 2009: I have installed Ubuntu 9.04 Beta, from the live cd. It is dual boot with Debian lenny on this EeeePC900 and it is just *perfect* for everyday tasks, such as internet connectivity, via WiFi or USB Wireless Broadband, browsing, etc. Very well done Ubuntu!

Benefits:

	* Your customer wants a WiFi link, he knows the locations he wants linked, but when you look from one point to the other, all you see is trees, you can't even see the other end. A Radio Path Analysis will show if hidden hills are in the way.
	* Save the time and expense of finding out your new WiFi link does not work after it is installed.
	* You have a six kilometer WiFi link to connect, but you can't see the other end, it's lost in haze. Is the other end on that hill, or is it …

Ping Test

	* The two AP-Bridges are connected to each other via coax cables with a HP digital 0 - 18 Ghz attenuator in the middle. Each AP has a output power of 19.542 dBm (90mW) which we will call 20dBm for brevity.
	* I want a receive level of around -70dBm at each AP, so 70 + 20 = 90dB, which is what the HP digital attenuator will be set to. The coax cables will introduce about -1.4dB of loss, which I'll ignore.
	* B2 network port is not used
	* B2 is wired to my local network 192.168.0…

Basic Steps

Please Note: NUT is immensely configurable, from multiple UPSes on a multi supply server, with staggered shutdows etc, and fully networked status and control. My tutorial only covers the minimum requirements to get NUT going on a local pc. Please consult the documentation at the Nut homepage, and web tutorials for the full NUT story.
